Why You Shouldn’t “Wait & See” on Kids’ Physical Skills

As a parent, it’s easy to fall into the “wait and see” approach when it comes to your child’s physical development. But delaying action on concerns like balance issues, coordination problems, or muscle weakness can lead to more significant challenges down the road.

My name is Kenzie, and I'm a physical therapist here at Metro Therapy in Fridley, MN. Today, I want to talk about the importance of early intervention for children.

Waiting Can Lead to Bigger Challenges for Your Child Down the Line

As physical therapists, our mission is to provide the best care for all of our patients, which includes prevention. We strive to prevent future concerns such as muscle weakness, poor balance, decreased coordination, and gross motor delays.

We do this by providing the necessary education and early intervention to allow for quicker progression, shorter therapy interventions, and greater success for your child.

This is why it's important to avoid the “wait and see” mindset, and instead to be proactive in your child's care. You can do this by encouraging their providers to refer to physical therapy if there are any potential concerns for your child’s development to prevent future or ongoing issues.

Reach Out to Metro Therapy Today

Children are constantly growing and changing, which can make it difficult to know when to refer. We encourage families to come see us if you have any concerns for your child's current development.

Our goal is to provide preventative care for your child so that they can continue to learn and thrive in their current environment. Feel free to call to schedule a physical therapy evaluation at (763) 343-6751.
