Teletherapy
Who would benefit from teletherapy?
Teletherapy can be especially beneficial to families who live too far to travel to the clinic or don’t have access to transportation. It can also be helpful for children who may be ill, homebound, compromised immune systems as well as for children who may feel uncomfortable with going to therapy. Teletherapy can be a great alternative to in clinic sessions on a snow day. Teletherapy can be done in the comfort of your child’s home, which may be the best and most productive environment for them.
How does teletherapy work?
Teletherapy: For a typical teletherapy session, the therapist would communicate with the family to coordinate a convenient time for appointments to take place. The family would then receive an email with a link to access the video conferencing software, which is entirely free for families and also compliant with privacy standards for your child’s safety. Your child would then engage in a typical length session over real time video directed by our trained clinicians.
Benefits of Teletherapy
Students today use computers as part of their learning process, so the transition to receiving therapy on a computer is not a big adjustment. Because the pediatric therapy session is live and highly individualized, the benefits are even greater. As an added perk, sessions can be recorded and replayed for the student/parents/legal guardians providing opportunities for review, practice, feedback, and carry-over outside of the school environment.
